Q: You would have done some preliminary number crunching on what kind of numbers you are expecting in FY11 for inflation and industrial growth. Can you share any of your preliminary estimates with us?

Sen: We don't have preliminary estimates because we don't have to actually make forecasts and that's not our job. That's done by the RBI, the Finance Ministry and the Planning Commission. Hence, we report and then really try and explain to people that what the base changes imply going forward that is our job.

Q: The other thing which is definitely up your alley, what is the timeframe for the new WPI index as well and what's the time frame if any for a new IIP?

Sen: The new IIP should be out quite soon in the next couple of months. As far as the WPI is concerned, we really need to ask the department of industrial policy as to why and when they would be releasing the new WPI.

Q: The new IIP, what would be its base year and how many?

Sen: 2004-2005.

Q: How much extra components would be included?

Sen: About 50% more than earlier.
