Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh is leading a push for more foreign direct investment, or FDI, for developing infrastructure in the financial capital. He has been telling investors that investment in the state is a natural extension of investing in the Mumbai market.

 

Deshmukh said, "We would like to develop Mumbai as a financial centre. There was a committee report that Mumbai should be an international financial centre, and for that it has been suggested that the infrastructure be improved."
