GoM defers decision on capping prices of essential drugs

A panel of ministers, headed by agriculture minister Sharad Pawar today deferred its decision on capping prices of 348 essential drugs.

A panel of ministers, headed by agriculture minister Sharad Pawar today deferred its decision on capping prices of 348 essential drugs.


The group of ministers (GoM) has decided to conduct a stake holder consultation before finalising its view on capping prices of essential medicines.


Srikant Kumar Jena, MoS, chemicals and fertilisers, said: “There was a presentation from the department of pharmaceutical and after the presentation it was decided that the stakeholders of different industries, MPs, any citizen can come before the GoM."


He further said that a day will be fixed to take feedback and finally a decision will be taken.
