Direct tax collections may fall short of revised target

All India direct tax collections are likely to fall short of the revised target by Rs 20,000 crore, sources told CNBC-TV18. The revised all India direct tax collections target stands at Rs 3.87 lakh crore.

Sources say the Income Tax Department is expecting healthy fourth quarter advance tax payments from the automobiles and manufacturing sectors. It is expecting weak Q4 advance tax payments from foreign banks and government oil marketing companies.
