The Ministry of Finance said containing prices will remain high on the Government's agenda, and it expects easing trend in inflation to continue in coming months, reports CNBC-TV18.

 

The Ministry assured that the global financial crisis won't hurt India much, as Indian economy is driven by local consumption and its banking system is stable.

 

Separately, Finance Minister, P Chidambaram said the Reserve Bank of India or RBI's intervening in forex market is considered as 'deemed appropriate' as RBI believes that local banks' forex derivative losses pose no threat to the country's banking system

 

Additionally, FM said that emphasis of the regulators is on proper risk management framework, adding that suitability and appropriate risk of derivative products is being offered by markets makers.
