Rel Comm, Idea, TTML to benefit from 2G spectrum auction

The judgment on the multi-crore scam was out today shaking up the whole corporate India. The Supreme Court has cancelled all the 122 licenses issued on or post January 2008. According to the verdict, telecom regulator TRAI will make fresh recommendations on the grant of licenses.

The government will take decision on licenses one month post TRAI recommendation. Out of the 122 licenses, 21 belongs to Videocon, Uninor holds 22, Idea 9, Tata Teleservices 3, Swan Telecom 13 and Loop 21.

Meanwhile, SC has dismissed petition to probe Chidambaram's role in the 2G scam.

An auction of 2G spectrum for 4.4 Mhz each will happen in 22 circles but it will take at least 3-4 quarters, sources told CNBC-TV18.

Reliance Communications , Idea and Tata Teleservices are most likely to benefit from this 2G auction. The auction will provide roadmap for telecom companies to get spectrum which will eventually ease spectrum crunch, sources added.
