Weak IIP irks Comm Min, calls for emergency meeting

The weak Index of Industrial Production (IIP) has prompted the commerce and industry ministry to call for an emergency meeting of an industry panel, to discuss ways of promoting domestic production, reports CNBC-TV18.

The weak Index of Industrial Production (IIP) has prompted the commerce and industry ministry to call for an emergency meeting of an industry panel, to discuss ways of promoting domestic production, reports CNBC-TV18.


The meeting of the task force will be held next week, once Commerce Minister Anand Sharma returns from Germany.


Sharma, in a press statement said that he will discuss problems related to exports in two meetings to be held on May 17 and June 1.


 He also assured that the government will provide sops to promote exports through the foreign trade policy that is scheduled to be released on the first week of June.
