Two bogies of the Samjhauta Express caught fire near Panipat at about 11.15 pm on Sunday, reports CNBC-TV18.
The death toll has risen to 66, while over 50 are injured. The injured have been taken to the Civil Hospital. The emergency helpline numbers for enquiries are 011-23342954, 011-233410702. Eye witnesses say they heard an explosion before the train caught fire. The train, also called Attari Express, was travelling from Delhi to Lahore via Attari. Samjhauta Express has now left for Lahore leaving the two damaged bogies.
