Coming out strongly against the proposal for retrospective amendments in the Finance Bill, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, on Wednesday said that such proposals acted as a major disincentive and completely upset fiscal planning, reports CNBC-TV18.

Addressing a CII session, Jaitley said that while there have been retrospective amendments in the past they had only a marginal impact. He also added that certain provisions in the Finance Bill were prepared with a pre-1991 mindset and the finance minister should re-think some of these proposals.

Arun Jaitley and the BJP top brass including Nitin Gadkari, LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj are to attend the party's two-day state conference at Madurai on April 28 to discuss Tamil Nadu-specific and national issues, BJP national secretary Muralidhar Rao said in Chennai on Tuesday.

Rao said the conference was being organised with the two -fold purpose of making the BJP an agent of change in Tamil Nadu.
