Inaugurating the 18th Refinery Technology Meet here, Petroleum Secretary Vivek Rae said the Union government had strengthened the public sector petroleum companies to achieve global standards.
Petroleum refineries, both in the public and private sectors, should ensure pace setter performance for improving margins, reliability and efficiency, a top government official said today.
Inaugurating the 18th Refinery Technology Meet here, Petroleum Secretary Vivek Rae said the Union government had strengthened the public sector petroleum companies to achieve global standards. "Petroleum refineries in the public and private sectors should ensure pace setter performance for improving margins, reliability and efficiency," he said.
BPCL Chairman and Managing Director S Varadarajan emphasised the need to innovate in all sectors of petroleum business. "No stone should be left unturned in ensuring growth, protection of environment and enhancing safety standards," he said.
B K Datta, Director (Refineries), BPCL, BD Ghosh, Executive Director, Centre for High Technology were among those present. The three-day meet RTM is being organised by the Centre for High Technology and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.
Around 700 delegates, including engineers, scientists and International experts in the petroleum industry are taking part in the RTM, which provides a forum for exposition of recent advances and chnological developments which are of direct relevance to the Hydro-Carbon sector.
The Centre for High Technology, a satellite organisation of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, which focuses on developing indigenous capabilities to attain technological competence and self-reliance in the hydrocarbon sector, regularly organises RTM in association with oil companies on various topics of interest in the sector.
The RTM, the theme of which is 'Pace setter performance for improving margin, reliability and efficiency', would deal with various aspects of global energy scenario, refining process optimisation, up-gradation and integration, value-added products, alternative energy, environmental management, catalysts, technologies, oil/gas transportation, safety, reliability, project management, R&D initiatives, innovations, best practices.
