Modi hints at strong opposition to FDI in retail

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi today hinted at strong opposition to implementation of FDI in retail in the state and said the Centre should evolve a consensus on the issue.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi today hinted at strong opposition to implementation of FDI in retail in the state and said the Centre should evolve a consensus on the issue.


Decision would be taken soon with respect to letters purported to have been written by the Centre on it. "We expect an early decision by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in this," he told newsmen here.
      
Modi, who also holds the finance portfolio, said both allies of NDA - JD(U) and BJP was opposed the FDI in multi brand in retail sector.
     
"FDI in retail will render more than four crore people jobless in Bihar," he said adding both the parties had objected to FDI in retail much before as well.
