Lok Sabha passes three bills amidst din over coalgate

Three bills - Northeastern Areas Reorganization Amendment Bill, Protection of Women against Sexual Harassment at Work Place Bill, National Highways Authority of India Amendment Bill - were passed in the din in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

Three bills - Northeastern Areas Reorganization Amendment Bill, Protection of Women against Sexual Harassment at Work Place Bill, National Highways Authority of India Amendment Bill - were passed in the din in the Lok Sabha on Monday.


While there was an uproar in the Lok Sabha over the CAG report on coal blocks allocation, the three bills were passed on the basis of voice votes.


Following this, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till Tuesday while the Opposition continued to demand Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation. The Monsoon session of Parliament entered is last week on Monday. The session that ends on September 8 is set for a washout.
