Eve-teasing murders: Four accused sent to judicial custody
Four persons, accused of murdering two youths for resisting their eve-teasing attempts in suburban Amboli, were today remanded in judicial custody by a local court, police said.

"The accused were produced before a local court, which remanded them in judicial custody till November 18," V D Bhoite, senior inspector of D N Nagar police station told PTI. "We had sought further 14 days custody of the accused, but the court stated that the further probe does not require the presence of the accused at the police station. Subsequently it sent them to the jail," he added.

On October 20, Rueben Fernandes (28) and Keenan Sentos (25) were attacked with choppers by a group of four, after the duo objected to their alleged acts of indecent behaviour against the girls, with whom, they had gone on an outing. Keenan died on the spot, while Rueben died in a hospital on Monday.

Sentos and Fernandes, along with five others, including three girls, had gone to a bar to have dinner and watch a cricket match on a giant screen put up there. After a while, they came out of the restaurant and were standing near a pan-shop, when the incident had occurred, police said.

Following the attack, police searched the area to nab the accused who were identified as Jitendra Rana (25), Sunil Bote (20), Satish Dulgaj (35) and Deepak Tival (19). They were later traced and arrested. One of them is a labourer, another is a barber, while the rest are unemployed, police said.
