Coal, Commerce ministries to get new secretaries

Two new secretaries will take charge of the coal and commerce ministries. SR Rao, a 1978 batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre has been appointed the new commerce secretary. He will take charge from June 1, 2012, reports CNBC-TV18.

Two new secretaries will take charge of the coal and commerce ministries. SR Rao, a 1978 batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre has been appointed the new commerce secretary. He will take charge from June 1, 2012, reports CNBC-TV18.


Until now, he was serving as special secretary with the department of telecom and will replace Rahul Khullar who has taken over as the telecom secretary. SK Srivastava, also a 1978 batch officer, will takeover as the new coal secretary on June 1, 2012. He is currently special secretary in the mining ministry.
