CITU to launch trade union for call centre employees

CITU is launching a dedicated trade union for employees from IT and ITeS companies in Kolkata from Tuesday. This union would largely be aimed at call centres employees, and not engineers and executives working with IT and ITeS companies, reports CNBC TV18.

Meanwhile, IT companies are not very happy with the development and the heads of many IT companies have got together to discuss their strategy.

This CITU sponsored union might allow undercover membership. The West Bengal government is silent on the formation of union though there is some support from the Left.
