The CAT's out of the bag - the long wait for more than 2,30,000 students who had appeared for the Common Admission Test or CAT last year is over. The results for the entrance test for the IIMs was declared today, reports CNBC-TV18.

IIM Bangalore has shortlisted 1,030 students for the next round. Only 270 students can actually make it to the institute. IIM Calcutta has shortlisted 830 students for the batch of 300 students. IIM Lucknow has called more than 1,100 students for its batch of 300 students.

And here's some good news for the students who didn't make these lists. IIM Shillong will be operational from this year. The applications will be open till January 22. The next round of selection comprising group discussions and personal interviews will start next month.
