Nano has become the case study for auto component manufacturers like Bosch . The company is developing more variants for the Nano and also working on making the low cost car even more price sensitive, reports CNBC-TV18's Swati Khandelwal Jain.

Bosch is developing innovations specifically for the emerging economies of Asia and South America, where purchasing power and prices are considerably lower than in advanced economies. Experience gained in meeting the specific requirements of these markets offers new scope for cost reductions and one such example is the Tata Nano.

Jeorg Lange, Bosch Engineering explained, "We are developing it for new components - Bosch Motoronic. Take this system and start working on better fuel consumption and components and drivability. We see potential in using some special designs in alternatives and also improving dynamics in trends and behaviour of vehicle."

The company has also built a power steering version of the Nano. So, Nano currently in its top end version does not sport a power steering but this one is with the power steering and makes driving so much better.

This power steering version of the Nano should come to India soon. The much awaited diesel version of the Nano is unlikely to hit the market before 2013.  Sources say while Bosch is ready with the technology, the delay is from Tata Motors end.
