Here is a verbatim transcript of her comments on CNBC-TV18. Also watch the accompanying video. It was definitely one of the most charged days at the Supreme Court. There were fireworks from the RIL, RNRL as well as the government counsels on the role of the government. RNRL did not want the government to be made a party and restrict its role to just an intervener for the production sharing contract. RIL says it needs to be made a party to the case. Finally RNRL's Senior Counsel Ram Jethmalani conceded and said that the government can be made a party to the case only if it is subject to cross examination to which the Supreme Court bench said that cross examination is not a possibility, however parties can submit affidavits and counter affidavits. Outside the courtroom, both the RIL and RNRL counsels told reporters that in all likelihood the government is going to be made a party and that they are just awaiting a formal order. We also had the Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramaniam in the Supreme Court today said that the government is not discriminating against NTPC and that NTPC is very much taken to be a part of the government. He also went to say that he will be filing an additional affidavit to this effect. He also said that if the government has the right to nominate NTPC as one of the nominees for the KG D6 gas to which even Harish Salve agreed and said that if NTPC would submit an affidavit to the Supreme Court he would support it and said NTPC can be made a nominee for the gas. And if it is made a nominee for the gas, RIL will supply gas to NTPC at the instructed price which could be USD 2.34 per mmbtu.
