Will Honda 'Amaze' crowds with its latest diesel offering?

Honda has faced a difficult period in India since it is the only major car manufacturer in the country that didn't have a diesel engine in its portifolio. The company's engineers have been hard at work putting together a new 1.5 litre diesel especially for India which will debut in its new entry level sedan the Amaze. CNBC-TV18's Sandeep Srikanth  reports in from Honda's test track in Japan with more details.

This new car could be the tonic that fuel's Honda's rebirth in the Indian market. Honda is betting on the Honda Amaze plugging a gaping hole in its India portfolio, especially since its sales have dropped over 8 percent in the last financial year as Indian car buyers.

Migrated from petrol to diesel vehicles, now the car will hit Indian roads in the 2nd quarter of 2013, but will it be just what the doctor ordered?

This new earth dreams diesel engine will also find its way under the hood of the next generation city, the jazz and various other cars based on the jazz and brio platforms giving Honda a new arsenal in the battle to gain market share.
