On the Vodafone tax issue, it is learnt that that a demand notice may not be sent till the inter-ministerial group (IMG) arrives at a decision, reports CNBC-TV18's Shereen Bhan.
A senior government official said that the I-T act not withstanding the government wants to sort out the Vodafone issue. The official also told that Vodafone would not be sent a new tax demand notice at least till the IMG makes up it mind. There seems to be some room for further decision-making as far as the IMG on Vodafone is concerned. So, no new demand notice being sent and the government. Sources say that it doesn’t want to go down the route of international arbitration.
