Vodafone has no cause of action for arbitration. That's what the government has told Vodafone in a short letter and that too without getting into details of the Vodafone seeking relief under the BIPA between India and the Netherlands, reports CNBC-TV18.
Sources say that the government has written that it has already refunded the money to Vodafone as per the Supreme Court order, which is why Vodafone has no cause for action. Sources add that the government has written this without prejudice to its objection to jurisdiction and merit. This letter was received by Vodafone on Tuesday and is being seen as a precursor to a more detailed reply by the government. "An inter-ministerial group is deciding on a second response," sources added. Also watch the accompanying video.
