Sculley said Jobs wanted to change the world and was never interested in making money. He also fielded questions regarding Apple's plans to launch a cheaper iPhone.

Below is the edited transcript of the interview on CNBC-TV18

Q: You had the privilege of working with Steve Jobs. What was Steve Jobs' vision? What drove Steve Jobs to make Apple what it is today?

A: I was with him for three years, seven days a week, till one in the morning. We would walk around for hours up in the hills, in skyline, around Stanford, around Apple's campus and not once did he ever talk about making money. He had virtually no interest in personal wealth.

Q: And isn’t it the most profitable company in the world today?

A: I am talking about him personally. He was interested in as he used to call it his attempt to make a dent in the universe. He had a noble cause which was to change the world.

Q: Will Apple compromise with Steve Jobs’ vision and cheaper-priced products?

A: I wouldn't say it would be a compromise to come out with a broader product and tried to compete with the really low price range of smartphones at USD 100. But Apple has what I call as the ‘fan bounce’. There are people who love Apple and will buy almost every product on offer. However, I would be amazed if Apple does not come out with a phone in the USD 250-range.
