Walt Disney announced today its first south Indian live action movie plans for the country. This is just one step in the overall plan of adding a local flavour to the Disney brand in India, reports CNBC-TV18's Tanvi Shukla.

India is one of the largest markets Disney has invested in.  The company has been given approval by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) for higher investment.

Walt Disney's first studio production is targeted at the south. The movie is expected to be released in 2011. The objective is to create an Indian Walt Disney company.

The company will focus on growing all verticals in India. It will produce more Hindi and regional films and give an Indian feel to upcoming projects.

In its project pipeline, Walt Disney has 14 projects in various stages of development while five projects are in advanced stages of development.
