Here is a verbatim transcript of Mehak Kasbekar's comments on CNBC-TV18. Also watch the accompanying video.
About 15-20 IPPs are scheduled to meet the Power Minister tomorrow and take stock of power projects. This is being done at a time when the 11th Plan capacity addition is about 78,700 MW and the ministry is under pressure to lower this to 50,000 MW. This is really a review meeting to take stalk of the situation and push these power producers to implement it.
Some of the issue in the agenda will be fuel supply agreement and the fuel transport agreement with the railways. They will be developing coal mines and simplification of forest clearances to speed-up the process.
The 11th Five Year Plan has almost doubled that of the 10th Five Year Plan. Though the minister did say that the 100-day agenda, which was a 5,653 MW will be met soon and also about only 3,454 MW was added against the 11,000 MW capacity last year.
