Facing the heat over the CAG reports, the UPA's coordination committee will meet on Wednesday for the second time. While there is no fixed agenda, the ruling coalition is expected to discuss pending reforms, reports CNBC-TV18's Rituparna Bhuyan, quoting sources.

Though there are no expectations of any major decisions, the participation of TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee adds significance to the meeting. This is the first time that the Congress and its allies will be meeting after the CAG reports were tabled.

Though there is no fixed agenda, sources estimate that the CAG reports will definitely be the main topic of discussion.  Other topics that may be discussed include pending reforms in insurance, the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) and the FCRA.

On all three of these Bills which are yet to be tabled in the Parliament, the TMC has an expressed objection.

The government is yet to take up bills related to insurance and PFRDA for discussion by the Cabinet. Wednesday’s meeting will probably provide some kind of indication of the government’s decision on these pending bills.

On FDI-related issues, sources have indicated that the FDI in aviation could come up for discussion because it was raised by Ajit Singh at the previous meeting when the discussions could not be completed because there was no representation from TMC in the first meeting on multi-brand retail.

It remains to be seen how the Congress Party will pitch the idea again to its allies, the Samajwadi Party and the Trinamool Congress.

The commerce ministry is planning to notify FDI in multi-brand retail by the second week of September.
