The government wants the deadlock to the end as soon as possible and is backing Jet Airways . There has been no timeline as such that the government has given on invoking the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA). It has, however, asked the Jet management to talk to the pilots and resolve it. It also said that the Civil Aviation Ministry can only facilitate but not take any real action. As far as the figures are concerned, there are 13,000 passengers who have been caused inconvenience in about 184 flights. The pilots would be meeting the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officials soon. There has been a message from the DGCA to the Jet pilots. The schedule of the meeting is not known. The Ministry said that it may facilitate the talks but for now, a wait-and-watch approach has been adopted. A decision on whether ESMA would be invoked has not been taken. About 168 Jet flights have been cancelled so far across the country. But interestingly some of the other airlines are coming up to the rescue.
