More than a 100 Jet flights have been cancelled as pilots went on a mass sick leave to protest at the sacking of two senior colleagues. The government says it will mull all options to end this standoff. CNBC-TV18's Mehak Kasbekar reports.

The government wants the deadlock to the end as soon as possible and is backing Jet Airways . There has been no timeline as such that the government has given on invoking the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA). It has, however, asked the Jet management to talk to the pilots and resolve it. It also said that the Civil Aviation Ministry can only facilitate but not take any real action.

As far as the figures are concerned, there are 13,000 passengers who have been caused inconvenience in about 184 flights. The pilots would be meeting the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officials soon. There has been a message from the DGCA to the Jet pilots. The schedule of the meeting is not known. The Ministry said that it may facilitate the talks but for now, a wait-and-watch approach has been adopted. A decision on whether ESMA would be invoked has not been taken.

About 168 Jet flights have been cancelled so far across the country. But interestingly some of the other airlines are coming up to the rescue. Air India has seen load factor really going up 100% in some of their flights earlier today and they have made sure that they have a standby crew and aircrafts to fly special flights on need be basis for the stranded passengers.

The President of NAG has been very keen on talking to the management and resolving this issue. They regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers in this whole ordeal.
