CAG's Vinod Rai has once again written to MCA on the Companies Bill. This is his second letter to the Corporate Affairs Minister in the past six months, reports CNBC-TV18's Malvika Jain.

He has been pressing for amendments to the draft legislation to ensure that the authority of the government auditor is not undermined.

His letter says that CAG should continue to enjoy powers to direct auditors of PSUs on the manner in which accounts should be audited and his role should not be restricted to only accounting standard decisions.

Vinod Rai's missive also presses for greater transparency in PSU accounts and wants that the impact of government directives on financial position of PSUs should be specifically disclosed.
