Bajaj Auto is going beyond the Pulsar. And for this, it is banking on its partnership with Austrian sports-bike and off-road vehicle giant KTM, reports CNBC-TV18's Swati Khandelwal Jain.
Bajaj is looking to strike its first blow in the war that's been brewing in the 200-2500cc bike space, taking on the Honda CBR 250 and Yamaha R15 with its Duke 200.
This 200cc sports bike will hit Indian roads on January 24. The Duke 200 is derived from the Duke 125, which Bajaj and Austrian partner KTM jointly developed for European markets.
It will be assembled for the Indian markets at Bajaj Auto's Chakan plant and is likely to be priced between Rs 1 and 1.5 lakh.
The Duke 200 will be exclusively available at Bajaj Probiking showrooms in India, from where Bajaj sells its Kawasaki range.
