Market outlook

The markets may open flat after strong recent run. The Nifty may face some resistance at 5300. Second half of trade will be key to watch out for.

The US markets gained for 7th day running. Liquidity continued unabated and FII flows were robust.

Institutional action

FIIs were net buyers to the tune of Rs 816 crore while DIIs net sellers of Rs 298 crore in cash markets on March 17, as per provisional data. FIIs net bought Rs 1531 crore in F&O.

FIIs net bought Rs 874 crore in Nifty Futures and net bought Rs 799 crore in Nifty Options on March 17, as per data available on NSE website.

Market cues

FIIs net bought USD 296.8 milion in equities on March 16, as per data available on SEBI website.

NSE F&O open interest was up by Rs 2,926 crore at Rs 1,25,631 crore.
