The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed below 10,000 for the first time in three months. It ended down 104 points at 9908.
The Nasdaq Composite was down 15 points at 2126 and the S&P 500 down 10 points at 1057.
US Declining Sectors: Financial was down 2.2%, Materials down 1.5%, Industrials down 1.1% and Utilities down 1.1%.
Asian markets opened mixed. Nikkei was down 0.5%, Straits Times down 0.45% and Hang Seng down o.3%. However, Taiwan was up 1%. Kospi and Shanghai gained 0.2%.
European markets ended higher on Monday. The CAC was up 1.2%, DAX up 0.9% and FTSE up 0.6%. CBOE VIX was up 1.5% at 26.5. GLOBAL NEWS
There were reports that China's lending in January exceeded previous 3 months put together (October, November, December) ((govt report to be released this week)).

US Banks: Bank of America was down 3.5%, American Express down 2.8%, Citigroup down 2.2% and Goldman down 2%.
Global Metals: Rio Tinto was down 4%, Vale down 2.2%, Chalco down 4.4% and BHP Billiton down 1.8%.
