Shares of Reliance Power, a part of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, gained as much as 7% intraday on Monday after the company said the 3,960 MW Sasan UMPP has been connected to the national grid.

In a release sent to exchanges, the company said, "We have announced the commissioning of the 440 KV switchyard at the Sasan Ultra Mega Power Plant. With this the 3,960 MW Sasan UMPP is now connected to the national grid." "The project is now ready to draw power from the grid to provide start-up power for the first 660 MW unit which is nearing completion, five months ahead of the scheduled date of commissioning," according to a release. "As announced earlier coal production has already commenced from the 20 million tonnes Moher and Moher-Amlohri coal mines. Sasan UMPP thus has both the fuel as well as the off-take systems in place for its commissioning ahead of schedule."
At 14:01 hours IST, the share was trading at Rs 86.70, up 6.12%. Even its trading volumes increased 47% to 16,86,189 equity shares as compared to its 5-day average of 11,41,732 shares.
