Reliance Comm falls as DoT plans to impose Rs 600 cr fine

Reliance Communications was under pressure on Thursday as The Economic Times reported that the telecom department plans to seek communication minister Kapil Sibal's approval to impose a Rs 600 crore penalty on the company and its unit, Reliance Telecom.

Reliance Communications was under pressure on Thursday as The Economic Times reported that the telecom department plans to seek communication minister Kapil Sibal's approval to impose a Rs 600 crore penalty on the company and its unit, Reliance Telecom.


According to the report, "The penalty is for unilaterally switching off mobile coverage in 12 states between November 16, 2010 and January 20, 2011, allegedly in breach of the shared mobile infrastructure regulations."


At 14:31 hours IST, the share was trading at Rs 62, down 1.12% with volumes of 7,35,607 equity shares.
 
Market capitalisation of the company currently stands at Rs 12,796.97 crore.
