Private power suppliers Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Power surged quite sharply after Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) Chairman said power tariffs have been hiked in Delhi.
Domestic prices were up by 24% and commercial prices by 19.5% that would be effective from July 1, 2012. According to DERC, reasons for hike were high power purchase cost and maintenance cost. Delhi power tariff hike additional 8% surcharge would be levied on overall electricity bill, says chairman. Tata Power Company gained as much as 3.3% intraday; which was trading at Rs 97.60, 2.20% at 15:15 hours IST. Reliance Infrastructure rose 1.74% to Rs 543.50 after early gains of 4.3%.
