Zydus Cadila has received an approval from the US FDA to market Meloxicam Tablets 7.5 mg and 15 mg., in the US market. The drug falls in the pain management segment. The branded sales of Meloxicam Tablets in the US market in 2005 was pegged at USD 1.26 bn (NDC Health).
In a significant advantage, Zydus Pharmaceuticals (USA) Inc., introduced its product on the very first day after the generic sale of Meloxicam was approved by the USFDA on 19th July 2006.
This marks the 16th ANDA approval for the group since the commencement of filing process in FY 2003-04. So far, the group has filed 37 ANDAs and 40 DMFs.
