It is a vicious lease agreement. Professional hackers are increasingly leasing out systems they have broken into, to cyber criminals for as low as 5 dollars an hour reports Pranshu Sikka.
Your hacked system may be up for lease. Hackers are now breaking into computers and then renting them out to people looking for online data theft. These people in turn track the activity on your PC to obtain sensitive information like bank account details, credit card numbers.
The rental for such access varies between 3 dollars to 5 dollars an hour for a period of one week to one month and it allows the hacker to avert risk by not directly misusing the stolen information.
"People who do not have the technical expertise use this method to outsource hacking and then carry out frauds.," says P Venugopala Raja, Sales Director, F-Secure.
The hackers are also providing premium services to cyber criminals willing to pay a little extra. This includes itemising the data, getting rid of low-value information and tabulation of the content, which can be useful to carry out fraud.
Popularly known in the business as the "New generation Cyber Crime Entrepreneurs" these hackers now want to make this trade an organised syndicate. Criminals on the other hand are always on the prowl for people who can allow them access to critical information. This arrangement of mutual benefit could pose a major security threat to internet users.
