In keeping with its promise to lead the industrial resurgence in West Bengal, Xenitis Group, a home grown conglomerate, has announced the launch the lowest ever priced mobile handset & lowest ever priced laptop in the country and UFO 0150, the 150 cc scooter today.
In the presence of West Bengal State Assembly's Standing Committee on Commerce & Industry, which visited the Xenitis computer component manufacturing factory at Sugandha, Hooghly, Mr. Santanu Ghosh, Chairman & Managing Director, Xenitis Group, launched the much awaited people’s mobile handset at an unprecedented Rs. 499/-. The other four models are priced between Rs. 500/- and Rs. 2,000/-. These mobile handsets are targeted to entry level users which will ensure phenomenal increase in mobile penetration in the rural Bengal. The models will be available in the market by the end of this year.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Santanu Ghosh said, “Our aim is to revolutionize the mobile handset market by introducing affordable handsets with all key features. We hope to tap the market with our affordable handsets. We are already getting good response from handset retailers due to low price and extra features. We also have plans to come up with improved features including dual SIM Card in the next phase. We have floated a new company Xenitis Telecommunications for our venture in mobile handset manufacturing.”
Xenitis has already bagged the order for supplying 1, 60,000 mobile handsets per month of which 50,000 will be exported to Dubai and Middle East.
Indigenously designed and manufactured by Xenitis Infotech the laptop Xuva XC 200 priced at Rs. 14,990/- , lowest ever notebook PC in the country was also unveiled at the same time. Earlier Xenitis launched Xuva T14WN series of Laptop of Rs. 19,990/-. The newly launched Xuva XC 200 is configured with Intel Celeron 2Ghz (550), 512 MB RAM, 120 GB HD, DVD, Card Reader, SIS chipset & & 13.3” WXGA LCD. This product is all set to revolutionize the Laptop market since a sizeable chunk of Desktop PC buyers will opt for it.
A team of 20 members from West Bengal State Assembly's Standing Committee on Commerce & Industry led by the Chairman, Mr. Sudip Bandopadhyay also visited the Global Automobiles factory, the first two-wheeler manufacturer of eastern India. Mr. Sudip Bandopadhyay unveiled UFO 0150, the 150 cc scooter from the stable of Global Automobiles.
Targeted at urban youth males and females with a focus on students in India, UFO 0150 will capture the fancy of the target segment as a New Generation Scooter. It is featured with 150 cc, 4 Stroke Engine, Electronic Self Start and Kick Start facility, metal bodied chassis and front and side cover in ABS. Available in four colour variants of Red, Black, Yellow and Silver, UFO 0150 will be the preferred choice of scooter riders for its high instant pick up and very powerful engine .The ex-showroom price of UFO 0150 is Rs. 34,990.
Mr. Ghosh further added, “We will invest Rs. 220 crores in Xenitis Infotech for capacity expansion, Rs. 110 crores in Global Automobiles and Rs. 100 crores in setting up of mobile handset manufacturing factory. In the coming six months Xenitis will generate additional direct employment opportunity for 650 people.”
This year the Xenitis Group has posted a turn over of Rs. 1000 crores. Xenitis Infotech Ltd., the flagship company of Xenitis Group has contributed Rs. 860 crores whereas Global Automobiles registered a turn over of Rs. 152 crores. The projected group turn over is Rs. 2000 crores for 2008-2009.
