Pharmaceutical and biotechnology major Wockhardt Limited has signed its first in-licensing agreement in the anti-wrinkle arena with Milan-based SYRIO PHARMA S.P.A. to market their B-Lift range of dermatology products.
B-Lift range of products, which are based on a Botox like peptide is used for anti-ageing. B-Lift, unlike Botox, is available in the gel form and can be used on all patients. It is also known to have a better safety profile than Botox. B-lift will be marketed by Wockhardt in India and will be available in a wide range, which will also include a topical application gel for men.
"Wockhardt has always strived to introduce newer and better products for the benefit of Indian patients," Wockhardt chairman Habil Khorakiwala said. "We will soon introduce the B-Lift range of products to cater to patients seeking advanced skin renewal treatment in India."
Wockhardt plans to launch B-Lift in the third quarter of 2007 in India. The product was first launched in 2003 in Italy. Multi-countries clinical data have proven its efficacy and safety.
According to market analysts, the anti-ageing market in India is estimated at Rs 2,000 million, but with growing awareness and lifestyle changes, this figure could grow exponentially in the next two years.
Wockhardt plans to enter this market with an independent field force to promote the product to dermatologists. In future, all the 'Derma-Skin care' brands of Wockhardt will be launched through this speciality focused team.
