Wockhardt Hospitals, India's leading super speciality hospital chain has been selected to provide medical and healthcare support to the Habitat for Humanity's Jimmy Carter Work Project 2006.Nobel peace prize laureaute and Former US President Jimmy Carter, his wife Rosalynn and 1200 overseas volunteers would be camping at Lonavala from 29th Oct to 3rd November, 2006 to build 100 houses for poor as part of the initiative called Habitat for Humanity Jimmy Carter Work Project 2006. Wockhardt Hospitals shall provide emergency and medical support to all project volunteers who are coming from various parts of the globe for building houses for the underprivileged in Lonavala.
The US based MedEx,amongst the leading worldwide Emergency Assistance providers which is handling the Jimmy Carter Work Project has initiated an alliance with Wockhardt Hospitals in India to provide medical care to its global members.The foundation for this association is based on the many International patients who routinely access the Wockhardt care in India and have made it is one of the most preferred healthcare destinations in Asia.Wockhardt Hospitals in Mumbai is also the first superspeciality hospital in South Asia to be accredited by JCI.The annual Jimmy Carter work project is held at different locations each year and attracts thousands of volunteers.The 2005 activity was held at Michigan and in the earlier years at Mexico,Phillipines and Seoul.
Commenting on the alliance, Wockhardt Hospitals' CEO, Mr. Vishal Bali said, "We are honoured to be associated with the Jimmy Carter Work project and provide medical assistance to those who have travelled across continents to make life better for the needy in India.Our Emergency care services follow protocols set by JCI and ensure optimal patient safety"
Each year since 1984, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, along with his wife Rosalynn, has donated one week of his time to conduct the Jimmy Carter Work Project in many regions of the world.Since leaving office President Carter has gained a reputation as a tireless champion for social justice. The project invites volunteers from around the world to travel to a different location to build Habitat homes with families who need decent, affordable shelter. Wockhardt shall provide medical assistance and services to these volunteers who will build 100 houses with local families in need in Lonavala in Maharashtra, India.
