Jharkhand pays rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi

Jharkhand pays rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi

Ranchi, Oct 2 (PTI) Gandhism is as relevant today as it was before Independence and one should pledge to adhere to Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals, Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed and Chief Minister Arjun Munda said as they paid rich tributes to Gandhiji on his 143rd birth anniversary. “Gandhiji forced the British empire to bow to his ideals of non-violence, love and truth. Even today the world follows his ideals,” Ahmed said at a function organised by Jharkhand Khadi Gram Udyog to mark Gandhi Jayanti here. Calling upon the people to renew their pledge to adhere to his ideals, Chief Minister Arjun Munda said Gandhiji’s ideals and his thoughts on economic policies were pertinent even today. “Gandhiji emphasised on strengthening the country through gram swarajya and we should carry forward his ideals in this regard,” Munda added. Jharkhand Assembly Speaker C P Singh said Gandhiji’s ideals were relevant, are relevant now and will remain relevant in the future too. JMM chief Shibu Soren was also present on the occasion.
