![]() Wipro & Microsoft announce expansion of their alliancePublished on Thu, Apr 17, 2008 at 17:55 | Source : Moneycontrol.com Updated at Thu, Apr 17, 2008 at 19:36 Wipro Technologies , the global IT services business of Wipro Limited (NYSE: WIT) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) today announced the expansion of their strategic alliance and the opening of two Wipro Centers of Excellence to showcase Microsoft technologies at Wipro's facilities in Bangalore and Mysore. The state-of-the-art centers will provide customers with an informative and interactive experience where they can envision and evaluate specific business and industry-based scenario solutions. Stephen Elop, president, Microsoft Business Division and Jeff Raikes, president at Microsoft (former president of Microsoft Business Division) took part in the symbolic tree planting ceremony with Suresh Vaswani, president, Global IT Service Lines, Wipro Technologies and Girish Paranjape, president, Finance Solutions, Wipro Technologies to mark the formal launch of the centers during their visit to Bangalore today. The companies have made a multi-million dollar investment for customer engagement in sales, marketing and service resources. The Wipro centers of excellence will focus on solutions and services on Windows Vista and Microsoft Unified Communications. Dedicated Wipro resources will work to integrate the various business communication tools into a single, inter-enterprise wide solution across multiple devices for e-mail, calendaring, voice and telephony, presence, instant messaging and short messaging service. Speaking at the opening ceremony in Bangalore, Stephen Elop said, "This strategic alliance will enable our customers to take full advantage of Microsoft's technologies along with Wipro's unique approach to business systems implementation. We believe the combination of Microsoft Unified Communications software and Wipro's industry solutions will redefine the way companies communicate with their customers and within their own organizations." Wipro will also expand to cover new geographies with Microsoft in the Middle East (United Arab Emirates and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), while at the same time accelerating growth within North America, Europe and India. This is in line with Wipro's growing presence in these markets and their commitment to the Microsoft platform. "We are delighted to take our alliance with Microsoft to the next level. Wipro's endeavor has always been to deliver innovative and cost effective solutions to our customers. This alliance will help us achieve this by enhancing our core competence in Global Delivery and development of new tools, methodologies and processes. The Wipro and Microsoft alliance started five years back, with the two companies collaborating on solutions in emerging technologies. Wipro's investment in a dedicated Microsoft Business Unit since then has provided the foundation for rapid growth in building capability and capacity in these areas. Wipro is one of Microsoft's largest global system integrators and is also a key strategic Microsoft alliance in India. The enhanced relationship will build solutions and services around Microsoft's Unified Communications, Platform Migrations, Collaboration, Data and Business Intelligence, and Windows Vista Migrations.
