Wipro Infotech and Microsoft India today announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide comprehensive IT infrastructure, solutions and services to Wipro's Total Outsourcing Services (TOS) customers. The worldwide TOS business is a key focus area of growth for Wipro, and the collaboration will enable Wipro to draw on Microsoft Corp.'s global technical experience and enhance the offerings in this market. The announcement was made today by Suresh Vaswani, President Wipro Infotech & Global IT Service Lines, and Ravi Venkatesan, chairman of Microsoft India, at the Microsoft Executive Partner Summit (EPS) held in Mumbai. The EPS, an annual event, provides a platform for Indian offshore System Integrators to better align with Microsoft around its technologies and deliver solutions that help enterprise business customers lead in their markets around the world.

The alliance will enable Wipro to build solutions using Microsoft® Operations Manager, SQL Server™ 2005, Systems Management Server 2003, Exchange Server 2007 and Windows Server® 2003 products for its TOS customers. This MOU evolved from Wipro's work with Microsoft IT-India, an extension of the Microsoft IT team developing mission-critical enterprise applications that support Microsoft's business worldwide. Microsoft IT-India also runs the IT infrastructure operations for the enterprise 24x7 from its Network Operations Center in Hyderabad. The relationship will allow Wipro access to Microsoft's best practices in the areas of infrastructure management and deployment of business technologies related to the use of Microsoft Operations Manager and Microsoft Systems Management software. That in turn will enable Wipro to improve the productivity and efficiency of the IT infrastructure operations on behalf of its TOS customers.

"Microsoft is strongly committed to the success of its allies worldwide, such as Wipro. Wipro has demonstrated the technical experience and toolsets to enable rapid deployment of these Microsoft technologies for the benefit of their customers," said Microsoft's Venkatesan. "We look forward to continued collaboration with Wipro to deliver improvements in infrastructure optimization and thereby increasing the productivity and efficiency of the TOS customer IT infrastructure."

Wipro's Global Services Management Centre in Mysore, which manages its TOS customers' IT assets, will work with Microsoft to conduct gap analysis and recommend new technologies, solutions and ways to optimize business customer benefits. Further, the two will collaboratively build and implement standard connectors to extend Microsoft Operations Manager to interoperate, connect and integrate with non-Microsoft products that may be included in a TOS customer's IT infrastructure.  As well, the two may jointly approach prospective TOS customers from sales, solutions and commercial perspectives.

"Wipro's TOS offering has been highly successful in the market, as evidenced through the string of recent wins in India," Wipro's Vaswani said. "Our TOS framework enables business transformation for customers through optimum deployment of best-of-breed technology solutions. We are happy to collaborate with Microsoft as it continues to launch a scalable, manageable and highly secure suite of next-generation enterprise solutions. Microsoft's enterprise technology leadership coupled with Wipro's TOS framework promises to be a compelling proposition for our customers."
