Whirlpool eyeing 10-15% growth this year
Home appliances maker Whirlpool of India, which achieved a turnover of Rs 3,135 crore last year, is eyeing a growth of 10-15% this year.

Due to the slowdown, the company is not looking at a "very heavy growth" and hopes to grow by 10-15%, company's Vice-President (Corporate Affairs and Strategy) Shantanu Das Gupta told reporters here.

The company today unveiled its range of built-in kitchen appliances in Kerala, the first in South India, as part of its 'Onam festival promotion 'Sadhyaotsavam' (feast) for its customers in the state from July 15-September 15.

Among the products are India's "first" fully-automatic chimney with 1200 m3 suction capacity, which is ideally suited for Indian cooking and a premium oven that cooks up to three dishes at the same time, he said.

The range includes a Microwave-cum-Hood that integrated a Microwave and Hood (chimney) into one product as well as stand alone 51 L built-in microwave, dishwashers and water purifiers.

Vipul Sabharwal, Head Sales, said, Whirlpool would launch some more products, including built-in refrigerators, by this year-end.

Whirlpool is targetting a sales turnover of Rs 180 crore from Kerala during the festival against last year's Rs 130 crore. The total turnover from the state last year was Rs 500 crore and Rs 3,135 crore, he said.

The company is growing by 12-13% in the state, he added.
