Q: What you tend to underestimate is the kind of managers who run Indian company and for us is money managers. That's the thing we like best about your country, you have corporations run by very good people, and do you think that holds true for IT?

Rod: I think it absolutely does, I have been in consulting practice for three years and I was much smaller, growing at a much lower rate of growth and the ability to simply hire people every corner within the right place at the right time and deliver quality services without a hiccup in your financials is a very tough undertaking.

If you look at what the major Indian firms have done, they are really growing headcount and about of 50% rate and are serving clients literally around the world with projects that are being run at multiple cities in India, serving clients in multiple cities in the States and Europe.

It is a highly complex model; they have done that with relatively stable margins over the last several years. This is despite the fact that there has been about 15% wage inflation in India and the scope of services that they have offered in each of the last five years has expanded pretty precipitously.

The management prowess, it has taken to pull that off without major hiccups in financial performance, I can't underscore. Now it is one of the most impressive features I have seen in business.

Q: What's going for Indian IT, just to sum up the discussion today. One key point for you, which might drive growth for the next 5 years or so?

Peter: I think it is a great talent pool with great management and strong processes that will happen to deliver that on global footprint. That's unmatched by any other country and quite frankly by most of the companies.

Q: And will remain that in the foreseeable future you think, without a threat for any other location emerging as the next big India for IT?

Peter: I don't think any other location will supplant India. The other locations will grow in their size but in a very real sense that will allow India to continue to grow because it will both validate the model and allow the Indian firms to take advantage of these as well. So I think it's very bright future in which India will maintain its central position particularly with North America and English speaking Europe.
