Bangalore, July 14
The Volkswagen Group hopes to double its sales of passenger vehicles for the current calendar year to 20,000. The ambitious outlook stems from the German Group’s stellar performance during January-June 2008, when it witnessed a 69 per cent jump in its sales of all cars over the corresponding period of last year.
The Group, which sports three group brands — Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen — sold 10,366 cars in the first six months against 6,131 for the same period in 2007.
In view of the robust sales, Volkswagen Group has forecast higher sales for the year, said Mr Joerg Muller, President, Volkswagen India and Representative of Volkswagen Group, according to a company release.
