Vodafone is finally set to paint the country red. After almost three months of waiting for regulatory approvals, the telecom giant is set to launch, reports CNBC-TV18.

It is heard that Vodafone is set to launch its brand and service in India in the next six weeks. With Hutch , quite literally getting the pink slip, Vodafone is keen to cash in on the festival shopping frenzy across the country.

Vodafone, one of the largest telecom players in the world, is known to enter new markets with a bang. It usually has discounted offers with handsets bundled in. But in India, Vodafone is unlikely to offer bundled handsets, because Indian customers and companies have traditionally had various problems with such schemes.

Therefore, Vodafone, it is learnt, will come in with innovative and discounted plans. So, if Reliance can do a 777 handset, Vodafone is slated to launch a 666 handset at the lower end. This will fit in perfectly with the company's plans to try and capture the mass market.

Competition is gearing up and so it is not only Vodafone; one can expect great deals swinging in, in the next few months from all telecom companies.
