Universal Electronics Inc, (UEI) (NASDAQ: UEIC), the leader in universal wireless control technology, today announced its entry into India with the launch of One For All®, its universal remote control brand. To be retailed through its India subsidiary UEI Electronics Private Limited, One for All® will offer Indian consumers a range of universal remote controls that can operate seamlessly across more than 3,400 Indian and global consumer electronic brands. Based in Netherlands, UEI is the company that invented Universal Remote Controls and has over 400 million consumers across the world who use its technology everyday.
“With emerging technologies and proliferation of consumer electronic products in the country, it is an opportune time for us to launch our products in India,” said Paul J.M. Bennett, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of UE BV, the retail arm of Universal Electronics. “The home entertainment environment is becoming more complex with new devices and increasing content and there is a need for remote controls that can operate multiple devices while providing ease of use and access for consumers in the comfort of their homes. One for All® combines the functionality of various remotes into one Universal Remote Control backed by patented technology.”
With over 20 years of experience in wireless control technology, UEI has the largest patent portfolio in the home control segment. It has an industry leading exhaustive and extensive database of over 2,50,000 codes which is constantly updated to support new product entrants in the market. Individual code sets are produced for each market to cover local brands.
“Our core target audience are consumers who are tech savvy, own multiple consumer electronic products and take pride in owning stylish gadgets,” added Paul Bennett. One for All® will be available in a range of 9 models varying in design and complexity. Priced between Rs 590/ to Rs 5995/, the products will be retailed through consumer electronic and other major retail stores. The products will initially be launched in the major metros and will expand to cover the mini metros in a phased manner over the year.
UEI has appointed Compuage as its official distribution partner for India. A key focus of UEI will be on extended after sales service support to ensure hassle free useage for consumers.
UEI is simultaneously launching Active Support, a call center in India; which will provide after sales support to consumers in the comfort of their homes.
While the consumer segment is a major focus for UEI, it will also target manufacturers of consumer electronics products and service providers in the country.
