Two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor is planning to re-launch its entry level bike TVS Max by June-end, reports CNBC-TV18.
It is learnt that the ramped up version will have four-stroke engine, instead of its earlier two-stroke engine. This was the reason for discontinuing the model three years ago as its two-stroke engine did not meet the then stringent emission norms.
The new version is expected to be priced below Rs 40,000, giving a fight to Hero Honda and Bajaj in the entry level range of rugged bikes which can withstand heavy overloading.
TVS already has entry level models like Star and Sport. With these, the company estimates that the entry level segment will grow 8-10% by FY12.
The company is also targeting to sell 20,000-25,000 units of Jive and 20,000 units of Wego. It said that Jive is likely to contribute 6% to the overall sales.
