TVS Motor has confirmed the launch of new 125cc motorcycle Flame in March, is what sources say, reports CNBC-TV18. Auto Correspondent Sumantra Barooah met up with the management.

The management said that they indeed are very close to launching the Flame minus the controversial twin spark plug. The added that Flame will use a new engine developed, patented and licenced by AVL Austria.

All legal precautions have been taken to avoid any legal infringements. And the motorbike is expected to be launched around the third week of March.

TVS expects to sell 20,000 units of the new Flame per month. TVS has also confirmed that they have appealed to Madras HC.

TVS lost about Rs 120 crore in sales because of the delay in launching Flame. It says there is no injunction against selling the 'Flame' motorcycles and the injunction is only against the use of the engine with twin spark plugs. TVS has an inventory of 4,000 Flame motorcycles. TVS hopes to sell 250,000 Flame motorcycles in 2008-09.
