TRAI releases paper on cable TV services regulation

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Thursday released a consultation paper on issues relating to `Regulation of interconnection for Broadcasting and Cable Television services.'

The major issues identified for consultation include the period of notice that should be given for disconnection, provisions regarding access to content and the definition of a payment defaulter.

Besides, the paper also seeks to come up with a methodology for fixing or revising subscribers base, renewal of agreement, development of reference interconnect offer and regulation of carriage fee.

In a statement TRAI has said that the last date for sending comments was May 31 this year.
