TRAI enlarges Auditors for auditing Metering, Billing

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has empanelled seven more firms in the panel of Auditors for auditing the Metering and Billing System of service providers.

 

In order to (i) bring uniformity and transparency in the procedures being followed by service providers with regard to metering and billing; (ii) prescribe standards relating to accuracy of measurement, reliability of billing; (iii) measure the accuracy of billing provided by the Service Providers from time to time and to compare them with the norms so as to assess the level of performance; (iv) minimize the incidences of billing complaints; and (v) to protect the interest of consumers of telecommunication services, TRAI had issued the Quality of Service (Code of Practice for Metering and Billing Accuracy) Regulation, 2006 dated 21st March, 2006 which provides for notification of a panel of auditors by TRAI  and the service provider have to get  audited their metering and billing system through any one of the auditors notified by TRAI. Also the service provider have to submit the audit report by 30th June of every year and action taken report on inadequacies, if any, pointed out by the auditor by 30th September of every year. TRAI had notified a panel of seven auditors in August/September, 2006. The audit for the financial year 2006-07 through the auditors in this panel is currently under progress.

 

TRAI has been in the process of enlarging the panel of Auditors and accordingly, TRAI today enlarged the panel of auditors by empanelling the following seven firms:-

 

1.  M/s T.R. Chadha &  Co.

2.  M/s mgb & Co.

3.  M/s Peeyush Aggarwal & Co.

4.  M/s Gianender & Associates

5.  M/s Bansal R Kumar & Associates

6.  M/s Vijender Sharma & Associates

7.  M/s H.K. Khanna & Co.

 

The letter to the service provides notifying the Panel of Auditors, the details of the contact  persons of the above audit agencies  are placed at TRAI website at www.trai.gov.in .
